TTTPlus 2nd Meeting

The Transition Towns group, representing our Triangle (Bermagui-Quaama-Tilba) and adjacent communities bordering Bega Valley and Eurobodalla Shires, met again to discuss projects affecting local transport facilities, food production/supply, and energy use.

Attended by Jo Lewis, Angela Marshall, Carolyn Wells, Peter Doolan, Anne Wilson,  Rosemary Beaumont, Peter Essex, John Barlow, Gabriele Harding, and Karen and Gary Hooley.

The members present unanimously agreed that this group would focus on projects and issues specific to the area popularly known as the Triangle plus adjacent communities. Therefore, resolving to call this Transition Town group TrianglePlus (TTTPlus).

Anne Wilson of Mystery Bay has been active in researching growers & producers in our area, and raising interest in a local market or retail outlet. Anne is also interested in establishing a local Community Garden.  Further information will be published on TrianglePLus Food page of this web-site. Please, contact Anne Wilson on (02) 44737300 or email peteranne(at)bordernet.com.au if you wish to participate or support these local food projects .

Peter Essex is actively engaged in a local transport project, looking at the feasibility of running a small bus to fill a gap in public transport within the Triangle Plus and commuting to nearby town centres. It is envisaged that renewable fuels, such as used-cooking-oil would power the bus. As well as helping people to reduce fuel costs, this would assist those without a vehicle, including young people wishing to participate in sporting or social events.

Gabriele Harding attended our meeting as a matter of interest and to offer support. Gabriele leads Clean Energy For Eternity (CEFE) in Eurobadella, and is a candidate for the coming Eurobodalla Council Elections. Gabriele is strongly committed to bringing the views and objectives of Transition Towns to Local Government.

Note:- A person with a keen interest in advocating Energy Efficiencies and Alternative Energy strategies is required to lead our Group in promoting these within our area, as our previous Project Leader for Energy is unable to continue due to unforeseen commitments.

If you wish to participate in, or provide information to, the Transition Towns TrianglePlus, please contact Jo Lewis on Phone: (02) 44737927 or email: rainbird(at)skymesh.com.au .
