Eurobodalla Cycling Club
NSW, 2537

Eurobodalla Cycling Club is based in Moruya on the South Coast of NSW in the Eurobodalla Shire. The Club offers membership to road bike social riding and competition through its affiliation with Cycling NSW, as well as mountain biking, both social and competitive, through its affiliation with Mountain Biking Australia (MTBA).

Mountain Biking

MTBA is the nation’s largest mountain biking association, serving as the national governing body for mountain biking in Australia. MTBA membership gives you a licence to race any MTBA affiliated event in Australia. It also provides comprehensive insurance for all levels of membership – senior, junior (competitive) and recreational. Insurance covers public liability, personal accident and capital benefits. Insurance is important to anyone who rides.

MTBA is affiliated with Cycling Australia, which offers discounted membership to Cycling Australia members wishing to join MTBA and visa versa.

The Eurobodalla Cycling Club hold regular social mountain bike rides, as well as having members who compete regularly, some at National level.

The social rides vary in technical ability, and cater for all levels. The Club’s mountain bike committee ensure that some rides accommodate both the beginner and experienced rider, while other rides offer an off road experience to those with a medium to experienced ability. An explanation on all rides is provided prior to the day to ensure riders ride within their capability and get maximum enjoyment. A gold coin donation is payable to all riders undertaking Club MTB rides.

The Club has recently built a mountain bike course, in conjunction with Forestry NSW. The course is located at Maulbrooks Road in the Mogo State Forest. This course offers an excellent days riding, with numerous technical aspects for mountain bikers with medium to experienced capability. Riders who are familiar with the “Angry Doctor” endurance race will recognise these trails. Regular rides take place on this course, with experienced riders.

Mountain biking may be dangerous and may result in injury or death to the person and/or property loss or damage. People wishing to partake in Club organised rides are generally required to have a licence to ensure they have adequate insurance cover. The Club may refuse riders, with no insurance coverage, to take place in club organised rides.

Road biking

The Eurobodalla Cycling Club hold weekly rides on Saturday and Sunday mornings throughout the year. The Club also partakes in regular competitions throughout the Southern Division.

Saturday morning rides leave from the car park at the rear of Air Raid Tavern in Moruya. The riding on Saturday is generally a social slower paced ride, with coffee afterward. During summer, the ride departs at 8am. The website will inform riders of the change to the winter timeslot. The ride is 60km and is generally flat with some undulation.

During the two week peak period over Christmas, the regular Saturday morning course is changed. Due to the large number of riders over this period, it is not safe on the highway. Our website will provide updates on the course changes.

Sunday morning training rides commence at 9am from differing locations. Please review the Club’s “Events” link for the Program. Sunday morning training rides are generally set at a faster pace, with the courses offering a hillier profile. Again, the social coffee at the Gundary Store is a must. Riders partaking in Sunday training rides are asked to pay $5.00.

During daylight savings, the Club holds Criterium racing at the Gundary Oval from 6pm. A fee of $5.00 is payable to race. Riders without a Cycling Australia race licence will not be permitted to race on the criterium course.

People wishing to partake in Club organised training rides are generally required to have a Cycling Australia licence to ensure they have adequate insurance cover. At a minimum a “Ride It” licence for recreational rides is a must. The Club may refuse riders, with no insurance coverage, to take place in club organised rides.

To partake in any Club racing events, a Cycling Australia race licence is required.

Riders wishing to join the Eurobodalla Cycling Club must be a member of Cycling Australia.
