Another year is about to begin, following the Club’s AGM held on 8 October. The incoming executive comprises Timo Savimaki (President), Craig Trevallion (Vice-President), Vanessa Goodspeed (Secretary) and Gail Johnston (Treasurer).
Where to from here for the Club?
Our Saturday morning ride is a South Coast institution, and arguably the Club’s most popular activity. It embraces racers, weekend warriors, visitors to our beautiful coast with its superb cycling courses, and once a week riders. Distances are manageable (about 50km) and rides finish at our characterful coffee venues.
Monthly we go on mountain bike rides, over courses that have no peer. Visitors will always be impressed with the offerings in this region.
We have training rides on Sundays on a variety of courses, which are supported more in summer than winter. Numbers vary but they cater to the racing fraternity who want to test their fitness.
Our racing is largely confined to crits on our Gundary track. These have been instrumental in improving our standards. Summer sees Tuesday evening crits added to our racing opportunities.
I urge members to support these events. Feedback on where we could improve our activities is always welcome.
Congratulations to Graeme Meek and Robert Upton who both won silver medals at the recent World Masters Championships in Sydney. It shows what the elite end of our small club is capable of.
